My mother and daughter are members of Pi Beta Phi. Alpha Chi Omega: Used to be almost in the top six. The University Panhellenic Council serves as a forum for discussing issues facing collegiate women and the entire Sorority and Fraternity community, and promotes excellence among its membership. AXO: party girls who could be big 6 but got cut due to lack of connections, unluckiness, or bad reputation. Chi O really does drop Hardin girls obviously going PKT on day 1 though. Again all the "rude" terms that I just associated with each house to not describe the individuals of a house, but terms like these come about when certain houses act together in poor ways. I hope that whoever wrote this or may read this can see beyond stereotypes. A lot of these are inaccurate. They are incredibly happy there and I was shocked frankly that they rushed to begin with. One of the "top" sororities in this write-up just had to shut down their chapter, and one of the "mid-tier" sororities has so many top women that it's almost embarrassing to the other sororities on campus. For some it's all about family and money. Overall Theta competes with Pi Phi and Kappa (less with Kappa in the past couple of years with their suspension for hazing and having to snap bid like twenty five girls a few years back). Many consider them obsessed with their looks and say they have a reputation for body image issues. Also, if you do not get a bid from a house that you want, you can rush again your sophomore year (assuming youre currently a freshman). IMO they will surpass DDD in the next few years. Just do a search for threads about UT. Each campus is different. What should matter is that you choose the sorority that you best fit into and makes YOU happy. AXD may be bottom but they are great! Find something you're interested in, but most importantly, just get a feel for where you belong. That is probably why you think they are the worst. They may like to act that way for reputation sake, but I know at least 10 who are on loans, student aid, etc. Pi Beta Phi is known as Pi Bitchy Phi and is the recognitized,as far and above,'The Top' sorority on my huge Greek-led campus. I am at a TX college and top tier is Kappa, Theta and Pi Phi. Theta has more pretty girls and definitely a lot of party girls. I see Chi O as a mix of Theta and Kappa type girls just below PKT. Nice girls tho who are looking for a sisterhood. The reputation of DG is that they are classy, supportive of each other, focused on girl-power, and heavily involved in campus activities. That was just a matter of numbers because chapters can only take so many girls. Kappa: Had a better pledge class than Pi Phi this year. The only reason a girl wants to join KD is because ADPi is her other choice. Just saying what is the truth now. But according to this middle aged man, we all just sleep around and party all the time. Theta girls are a lot more "fun" and Kappa girls are more "nice" girls. The reputation of each sorority is DIFFERENT at every sorority you go to. That will only spell disaster for yourself.

Dont have to be pretty to get in. Every house at UT has something to offer. PKT..very different chapters but all three required major connections to get in. If you pledge to a sorority and then think it isnt for you, decide on joining before the initiation process. Theyre actually much more attractive than KD and ADPi. However something happened and over the past few years they did a 180. The reputation of Zetas ranges depending on who you talk to, but party girls is a fairly common descriptor; the less charitable have compared Zetas to the cast of the Jersey Shore. Thats what we call panhellenic spirit, which this website clearly lacks!!!! Chi o- "bible beaters"- love The Lord, academics is important, Pi Phis (top)- love their Lilly and pearls with a dash of vodka, while Kappas (top) just love their vodka (and are usually the more 'brunette' house with rich girls), alpha phi - idgaf girls, very popular among the frats, easy DZ..nuff said, tri-delts (tri hards) usually pretty top - your camp counselor kinda gals, zetas (top) the on campus barbies, theta---jocks - so on with that. Wrong on so many levels. :) we aren't one of the "competitive/elite" groups but that's what i love about us! Any answers you can provide will be helpful . Sorry, ladies. PAN LOVE PEOPLE!! Almost impossible to get into unless you know a ton of girls in the chapter, are beautiful, and from an affluent neighborhood. This is not just for UT but for many other schools.
,UT rush is incredibly competitive due to the high number of legacies and in state students who already have connections with the chapters, plus the number of PNMs who only seem to want one of six chapters. I'm not a member of either, but I read it and thought "Wow, somebody doesn't like the Pi Phis". Being in a sorority is something I can't explain in words. Not one person do I hear that they hate pi Phis. However, DZ women are also known for their strong sisterhood and mutual support. At my school, Chi O and KD are considered the "best" sororities and what you said about the Chi O's is illustrated exactly at my school. Unlike some other top-tier sororities, Kappa Delta members do not have a reputation for being all clones or princesses, but they tend to be popular and social. Theyre friendly and make everyone feel welcome, and they were really good at that during rush. Kappa kappa gamma is the richest out of all of them. They are leaders. Everyone is different. AOIIs can have the reputation of being "srat" girls - sorority girls who hangout with a particular fraternity on campus. I like yalls pool though. Tri-Delt: This years pledge class put DDD from Top Tier to Lower Top Tier. AXO and DG not too far behind. hey!! Zeta Tau Alpha tends to be far more popular in the South than elsewhere in the country. Your chapter sisters are the ones you need to mesh with. Girls are as classy as they want to be, the letters on their chest does not effect that. My experience was that the Kappas, Thetas and Pi Phis were tops. Very beautiful girls (not as beautiful as Zeta but honestly any Zeta would have taken a Theta bid over Zeta). The description of my Fraternal organization does not fit my experience in the least. You have nothing to loose, and you'll never know if you could absolutely love it until you try it!! As long as you realize that the average frat guy is not out for meaningful relationships (especially freshman and sophomore years) the better chance you have at not falling prey to the you are so special garbage. You will find some houses that balance GPA, socials and charity work and some that dont do that so well. I'll take a go at it. DG has been dropping for last few years. Is a bottom tier. Care about money, looks, and highschool GPA. Based on the totally appraisal of KKG, It reeks of favoritism and lack of awareness. Chi O Theta: Similar to Pi Phi as girls usually have been told they will be a theta before rush week begins. Sadly, that is fairly indicative of this chapter. Alpha Omicron Pi. Many girls who get AXD end up dropping. Most likely the girl that says she will only go XYZ or AB will be cut by those two houses and she will either eat crow or drop out. Having strong communication skills matter. Okay so here are the real sorority rankings at UT Austin IMO Upper Top Tier: Theta, Pi Phi, Kappa (aka PKT) Theta: IMO best pledge class. (Hang w Tri delt, some Chi O + Sig Ep, KA, Sigma Chi) This is complete nonsense and pure garbage. Hard to rank AEPhi. I think you are right on about all of them to a large degree. Tri Delt should take notes. Delta Zetas are gorgeous, easy girls while Delta Gammas are typically bigger in size and far more unattractive. I would love to see all the sororities listed and updated. I'm a 00s alum from a house that used to sit very comfortably just beneath the Big 6. This is literally the absolute dumbest article I've read about sororities since I went to college in 1987. Bottom Tier: KD, ADPi :) Dont believe everything you read people. Lower tier. Y'all gave so many girls to them this year who would have loved to be DDD but you dropped them! They take sisterhood seriously and try not to get caught up in drama, which might lead to the sentiment that they're aloof and snobbish. I will be a new student next year and wanna rush, and am curious about the sororities and what the chapters are like here.
