Most all long tubes come out far enough to clear and other short tube headers will work but there is clearance issues on two of the cylinders. As a matter of fact, Central Coast has an '89 coupe with GT-40P heads that has run a best of 11.98 in the quarter-mile. If you can find individual flanged headers like the obsolete MAC headers had, those worked really well with GT40P's. After a couple grand you have a killer set of heads, but there's got to be a less-expensive way of making horsepower. In addition, the cam timing was designed for torque, with duration somewhere around 190 degrees at 0.050 with roughly 0.450-inch lift.
